This term, Ramsey class have enjoyed their PE sessions at Clip and Climb, a unique indoor climbing experience designed to challenge and inspire. Over the course of five weeks, the children have shown remarkable progress in their physical education (PE) skills, particularly in core strength, balance, and coordination. The sessions have not only been a fantastic way to develop these essential skills but also a wonderful opportunity for the children to support and cheer each other on.

From the very beginning, the children were introduced to the climbing walls and safety procedures. Initially, there was a mix of excitement and apprehension. Many pupils were hesitant to climb higher than a few feet, but with encouragement from their peers and instructors, they began to explore their limits. As they became more familiar with the environment, their confidence noticeably increased. They started to climb higher and tackle more challenging walls.

As the weeks progressed, the focus shifted to enhancing coordination. The students practiced more complex climbing routes that required precise hand and foot placements. This not only improved their coordination but also their problem-solving skills as they figured out the best paths to take. The camaraderie among the children continued to grow, with each child receiving enthusiastic encouragement from their classmates.

Building strength and endurance became a key focus as the students tackled longer climbing sessions and more demanding routes by engaging in some of the challenges on the walls. Their core strength had significantly improved, allowing them to climb with more stability and control. The progress in their physical abilities was matched by their growing confidence and determination. It was lovely to see to see the children cheering each other on and celebrating each other’s successes.

The Clip and Climb sessions have been a tremendous success, not just in terms of physical development but also in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment. The children have shown that with determination, practice, and a little help from friends, they can achieve great things. We are incredibly proud of their progress in their PE skills and in their growing friendships in the classroom.
