Pupils love PE lessons

As a school we access numerous off-site provisions to deliver our PE curriculum. This year, various classes at different points will participate in off-site PE.

This half term the classes that have been involved have done horse riding, clip & climb, bouldering, swimming and gymnastics. However, we also benefit from some sports organisations coming to Brantridge and providing various sports-based learning here on site.

We have Workout Wednesday every week and every Thursday, staff from ‘Brighton & Hove Albion in the Community’ deliver sessions for some of our pupils here at the school. The children are so engaged! A range of PE games and activities are provided, and the pupils’ enthusiasm is great to see. The Brighton staff are supported by colleagues here who regularly work in the classroom and is yet another opportunity for our staff and the children to form strong relationships through a shared positive experience.

Whether it is going off site to develop learning opportunities, or welcoming people to our site, one of the key opportunities we try to facilitate, is to give our pupils the chance to use the communication skills they learn, in the ‘real’ world.

Giving children these opportunities to participate safely, under supervision, with people and resources outside the classroom is so important. To be able to do this, with their friends, under the guidance of staff who know them is such a key part of the pupils’ development. We continue to utilise opportunities for our pupils to use their developing skills in the wider community as we prepare our pupils for life in the wider world.
