Job Description

Key aspects of your role will include:

• Assess children’s needs using relevant assessment methods; and to provide play and/or art therapy sessions in accordance with the requirements of needs identified and in line with the requirements of the school
• Provide individual and group play and/or creative arts therapy to pupils , helping pupils to decide on, and implement appropriate courses of action
• Writing reports of pupils’ progress and interventions used in Play/Art Therapy e.g. for ARA, CAMHS, Social Services, and well as maintaining case records, completing written reports, and fulfilling procedures and statutory duties in line with the school’s policy British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) or British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT)
• You will also be required to participate and deliver training where appropriate within the school

Experience of working with primary school children and with children with Special Educations Needs is essential for this role.

The successful candidate will have the insight, confidence and strength to enter into the in-depth Play and Creative Art Therapy Process, helping our children to make sense of difficult life experiences or complex psychological issues through the activity of play and creative arts.

Brantridge School is a specialist school located in Staplefield, near Haywards Heath. The School provides education and care for up to 54 boys aged 6-11 years old. Our pupils have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The School is part of Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust, a family of specialist education providers with a strong record for making a positive impact within the community it serves. As part of our Therapy Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring our pupils achieve their full potential.

This is a unique opportunity to develop play/creative art skills within an educational environment, offering the chance to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and to use therapeutic skills creatively to meet the needs of pupils and students.
