Introducing Prince, the Therapy Dog
We are very excited to introduce Prince, our new therapy dog who will be starting to work with pupils very soon. Prince is a gentle and affectionate German Shepherd, who is being trained to provide emotional support, comfort, and companionship to our pupils.
Having a therapy dog in our school offers numerous benefits. Research has shown that interactions with therapy dogs can significantly reduce stress and anxiety, creating a calmer and more conducive learning environment. Prince will be available for pupils who may need a little extra encouragement or comfort throughout their day. He will support our wellbeing initiatives, helping to foster a sense of belonging and emotional resilience.
Prince will be in and around school over the next few weeks getting used to the school surroundings before starting in his formal capacity in September. We are certain that Prince will make a wonderful addition to our school community, enhancing the mental health and wellbeing of our students.
We are using an amazing organisation called Canine Assisted Learning to help train Prince to be the best therapy dog. Please do look at their website for more information
Emilie will be running assemblies for each class in the first week after half term to talk to the boys about Prince and safe ways to interact with dogs. We will also send you the assembly presentation so that you can look at this with your children at home.
Please join us in giving Prince a warm welcome as he settles into his new role!
