Introducing our new Outdoor Learning Passport!
We are delighted to launch an exciting new initiative across Brantridge School: the Outdoor Learning Passport.
Designed as a year-long programme of challenges and activities, the Outdoor Learning Passport will encourage learners to explore, discover and learn in the natural world. By connecting learning directly with nature, the programme aims to develop confidence, creativity and essential life skills while making learning fun, hands-on and adventurous.
Throughout the year, learners will work through a range of activities grouped into four key areas:
Seasonal & environmental learning
Learners will develop a deeper connection with nature by exploring local ecosystems and learning about environmental care. Activities will include wildlife spotting, bug hunting, habitat exploration and observing the changing seasons.
Creative & experiential learning
Learners will use natural materials to create artwork, experiment with building and engineering challenges, and take part in sensory activities that encourage them to engage with the outdoors using all five senses.
Curriculum connections
The Outdoor Learning Passport will bring classroom learning to life through outdoor maths, English and topic-based activities. From measuring trees and collecting data to story mapping, phonics hunts and exploring history, geography and science topics outside, there will be opportunities for learning across the curriculum.
Social & emotional development
Outdoor challenges will help learners build teamwork, communication, resilience and problem-solving skills while working collaboratively with their peers in a supportive environment.
To ensure the learners can enjoy outdoor learning in every season, parents and carers are asked to provide suitable clothing and footwear, including wellies and a warm waterproof coat. Our pupils will be exploring outdoors throughout the year and in all weather conditions.
We look forward to sharing our outdoor adventures and celebrating achievements as our learners work towards completing their Outdoor Learning Passports throughout the year.
