Introducing our animal care and gardening curriculum

We are really pleased to share that we now have 8 chickens and 3 guineapigs in school.

Our Gardening and Animal Lead, Emilie, carries out regular sessions with the boys where they are taught about animal care. This includes feeding, housing and health checks.

The boys get to interact with the animals, cleaning out their beds and giving them their breakfast.

Animals offer numerous benefits to children impacting their development and well-being. They enhance sensory development, improve motor skills and contribute to language development through interaction and observation.

The gardens are being prepared, and the boys are spending time helping with this, getting the soil ready for planting.

This year we will be planting sunflowers and tomatoes. We also have a variety of vegetable seeds, and the boys will be choosing which vegetables they want to plant.

We are all very excited to see the plants and vegetables grow and to get the boys to sample the vegetables they plant. The Animal and Gardening Care lessons are proving a very popular addition to the curriculum.
