Bubble Bonanza
All classes enjoyed an exciting day of science workshops and the children literally stepped into a world of bubbles! This hands-on experience brought science to life by exploring core principles such as gas properties, pressure, and surface tension. Through engaging activities, students experienced the magic of bubbles while developing a deeper understanding of essential science concepts.
A big and popping hit, was the children having a giant bubble made around them to experience gas properties, surface tension, and air pressure interactively, supporting concepts like force balance and pressure. The soapy film interacts with the white light causing different wave lengths of light to interfere with each other creating rainbow like colours.
The children were amazed by bubbles that didn’t pop when held. They held glycerine enriched bubbles to explore surface tension and elasticity. This hands-on activity showed why some substances form stronger bubbles, linking to material properties.
They learnt how to balance an empty can on its rim by putting in some water and tilting it on its edge, learning the secrets of magicians’ tricks. The trick taught the relationship between forces, mass and angle.
The activities promoted critical thinking. The children were asking questions and observed how things happened. It also encouraged observational skills as they interpreted the scientific concepts. Teamwork and collaboration were promoted as pupils created bubbles and experimented together.
Overall, the science workshop was a fantastic, hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and excitement throughout the school.
