Brantridge School comes together for Mental Health Awareness Week
Brantridge School marked Mental Health Awareness Week from 11–15 May with a range of positive, pupil-focused activities designed to encourage everyday actions that support well-being. Guided by this year’s theme, Action, the week highlighted how small, thoughtful gestures can make a meaningful difference when it comes to caring for mental health.
Throughout the week, pupils were encouraged to reflect on the actions they can take to support their own well-being and that of others. On Monday, pupils took part in myHappymind sessions, which focused on mental health and practical steps children can use to look after themselves emotionally.
Tuesday centred on gratitude, with pupils creating ‘Thank You’ cards for parents, teachers or anyone they wished to show appreciation to. This simple yet powerful activity helped pupils recognise the positive impact of kindness and connection.
Midweek brought energy and laughter with Wednesday’s Mental Health Workout, promoting the idea that physical activity and fun can play an important role in supporting emotional wellbeing. Pupils and staff alike enjoyed taking part in activities designed to boost both mood and movement.
On Thursday, the school joined the national Wear It Green campaign, with pupils and staff wearing green to show their support for mental health awareness. As part of the day’s activities, pupils designed green-themed T-shirts, which they later traded in for a treat.
The week concluded on Friday with a shared celebration, as pupils and staff exchanged their T-shirt designs for either a cupcake or a refreshing green smoothie. The activity brought everyone together and ended the week on a positive, community-focused note.
Mental Health Awareness Week at Brantridge School served as an important reminder that while awareness matters, real change comes through action. By working together, the school community demonstrated how everyday kindness, gratitude and shared experiences can help nurture positive mental well-being for all.
