Brantridge School celebrates five years of Picture News in the classroom

Brantridge School is marking five years of using Picture News, a current affairs resource, to support teaching and learning across the school.

Since first introducing Picture News into classrooms, the resource has been used to spark discussion, build pupils’ understanding of the world and develop key skills such as critical thinking, communication and empathy. The consistent use of real‑world stories has helped pupils engage with complex topics in a way that feels accessible, relevant and age‑appropriate. The visual approach has proved particularly effective in encouraging all pupils to share their views and listen to others, fostering confidence and respectful dialogue.

Reflecting on the milestone Vice Principal, Miss Harry said, “The resource continues to support our commitment to preparing pupils for life beyond the classroom, keeping them informed about what is happening in the world around them.”
