Being Connected on World Mental Health Day

By Fiona Wilkins - November 3rd, 2025 | Posted in Article

We celebrated World Mental Health Day on Friday 10th October. Their pupils wore green, purple, or any vibrant colours but it was clear that green was the standout colour of the day!

We hosted an open day in the therapy area where all pupils had the chance to explore the therapy rooms, play pin-the-tail games, and create spiders out of cleaning pipes (sensory activity). Each of these activities carried an important message about Being Connected and spending time together is a wonderful way to maintain well-being.

Pin the tail game gave pupils the opportunity to practice taking turns and learning patience. It was also a fun way to learn that things do not go right all the time and accepting that things may not go as planned is an essential tool.

Engaging in art or relaxing activities is another great way to care for our mental health. Exploring the therapy area was crucial for our pupils, as it showed them where they can seek help if they encounter challenges. It was a busy day, but witnessing the smiles and joy of the boys was incredibly uplifting for everyone’s mental well-being!

In addition to celebrating World Mental Health Day, Ladka, our Mental Health Lead, conducted sessions through myHappymind in every classroom, discussing the brain and ways to care for it to promote happiness. The ‘Meet Your Brain’ module is the first topic of the Happy Mind program, delivered throughout the school to enrich pupils’ learning and self-understanding.

The main message of the day was that by taking care of yourself – eating healthily, drinking plenty of water, spending time outdoors, exercising, getting enough sleep, and, most importantly, socialising and playing with friends – you are on the path to maintaining your wellbeing. Everyone’s well-being is important – pupils, staff and families!
