Art Exhibition of the Senses

This term we have been creating art projects around the senses. Each class focussed on a different sense from Sight, Sound, Smell and Touch and came up with a visual representation. All the pupils’ hard work was on display at the Christmas Fair and pupils enjoyed showing their family members around and explaining the artwork they had produced.

Sherpa class produced a Sensory story board based on one of their favourite books. “We’re going on a bear hunt” complete with woods and swishy grass. Galaxy used the sense of touch to create characters inspired by computer games. Meanwhile Zephaniah created dioramas depicting the journey of human life complete with sound effects.

Odyssey Class chose to focus on the sense of smell and created a Christmas tree with heavily scented festive decorations. Ramsey class used their Autumn walks as inspiration for a piece of art created with paintbrushes they made themselves.

Nims class looked at the shapes painted by Kadinsky and added QR codes to their art so that their audience could listen to some of the music that had inspired them whilst painting. Stafford Class selected the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama as inspiration to create some wonderful prints using dots, clay and animal sculptures. Morpurgo class also took inspiration from Yayoi Kusuma and used recycled material to create 3D sculptures.
